It was Shalene’s mum’s birthday today so, having bought here a new iPod nano and speakers yesterday, we drove to see her at Bribie Island. We had a very nice lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Traffic was quite heavy on the way home.

It was free, and just as well.

The lydney fire festival was irrefutably dreadful in its presentation, late, unentertaining except for its production failures and awful generally, but full credit goes to the teenager who built this sculpture, a good 18 feet tall, as a sacrifice to the flames in this festival time. For a young man , no doubt with some help the sculpture was an amazing effort and I hope the HDR has done it justice, but unfortunately the people aimlessly milling around it made making the composite extremely difficult.

This sculpture and its consequent burning however was as good as things got. This good effort was unfortunately overshadowed by the total incompetance of those attempting to perform around it.

My phone went dead in Philly. It’s an old enough phone that none of k-mart, radioshack, or a dozen dollar stores sold a charger for it. Finally, I found a car charger at a dollar store. I also bought some speaker wire, two nine volts and electrical tape. For less than , I could charge my phone.

So, you’ve got an old OMP or MP100 hanging about, and you don’t use it anymore since you got a shiny new 2000, or, like me you find a deal on one too good to pass up and figure it will make a handy rolodex or something. Well, as long as you’re going to have it around, you may as well customize it, right?

The one I got was in very loved condition, a good bit of the orignial rubberized coating had worn off, and there were a few nicks in the screen. My thinking was this: 1) It needs a more permanent surface treatment and 2) if I screw it up I’m only out

This is a true all-in-one home cinema solution – the thing was the size of a small car. This one has a Wii built into the front! You could have XBOX 360s, PS3, whatever you wanted. Has all the amps on board. Just plug a display and speakers and you are done.

Needless to say, we won’t be doing these! The thoughts of sending someone’s entire cinema back due to a failed iPod dock does not appeal!

The four of us had been just discharge from a camp ground for being disorderly. I was sitting in a lawn chair that was Vinny’s passenger seat. Vinny was driving and trying to fix a speaker that was not working on a stereo he had installed himself. I told him to drive and I would take a look at it. I was under the dashboard, but Vinny was watching me and not the road. The car went off the road and hit a small street sign that put a four inch hole in the gas tank. That was such a good Morning. My first and only Sunrise. I never really stayed up past 4 or 5 so…the Morning Sun was special that day.
I was drinking Vodka like it was Water. Literally. I remember stopping at one moment and thinking – Wow – this stuff is going down Real Easy.

Unlike yesterday, today I actually remembered to go on the Ticketplace website and get myself a half-price () ticket to see tonight’s production of ‘Les Miserables’ at Signature Theatre in Shirlington. There’s no Metro station in Shirlington, so since I don’t drive I had to catch a bus at the Pentagon. I hate riding the bus, but it’s a non-stop, ten-minute trip there from the Pentagon so it’s not that bad. Arlington County has talked about building a street car line that would run out to Shirlington, but there are no signs of that actually happening yet.

No, what I’ve really been lusting for all these years is the big long driveway that we’ve got at our new house in Victoria. It’s paved and everything. And I’m doing what you’re supposed to be doing in a driveway on the weekend – I’m washing the car. That’s after I spent about 90 minutes trying to vacuum out the dog hair that’s built up in it.

As you may or may not know,i was lucky enough to aquire Bob Clarkes beautiful rx12 Corona.

Well,here are some updates since i got it.As lovely as it was,i just don’t do standard,so those who just can’t bear to see an original car modded,then look away now!

Fist of all,i gave the interior a general clean,took out all the carpets and washed them.Did the same with the centre console and removed a switch and a light in the dash and covered the holes with a chrome strip.
I decided to fit a cd player,but didn’t want to cut anything up,so i mounted shelf speakers in the back and put the stereo on the shelf below the glovebox.
While i was messing around with the rear seats out,i discovered 3 small rust holes in

It was a hell of a trip. My plane out of Grand Forks was cancelled, and I ended up on a whole slew of flights before I got to Denver. In Denver, they didn’t have a car ready for me. Then I got lost on my way to the hotel.

walking back from the Herbst this evening, we saw colors projected on the north side of City Hall. A (very hot) british woman explained this was Big Tilda as part of the San Francisco Film Festival. It wasn’t easy catching the amazing projections displayed for a few minutes each. Sort of like being at a drive in without the speaker attached to the window, car, or couple making out in the car next door.
